Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT)

This certificate introduces students to the professional roles of a phlebotomist and clinical lab assistant. The program is structured into five one-month courses, followed by a one-week capstone. Course topics include medical terminology, interpersonal communication, computer skills, laboratory equipment mechanics, technical proficiency in blood draw procedures, proper specimen handling, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and bloodborne pathogens. Upon completion, students will be well-prepared to take the NHA Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) exam.

Phlebotomy Course Sequence

This certificate program requires 16 hours of coursework as follows:

 

COMP 101: Introduction to Computers – 3 credit hours

WOSK 101: Workplace Skills – 3 credit hours

CLA 101: Clinical Lab Assistant I – 3 credit hours

CLA 102: Clinical Lab Assistant II – 3 credit hours

PHLE 101: The Science of Phlebotomy – 3 credit hours

PHLE 210: Phlebotomy Capstone – 1 credit hour
